Cedar Hill Loop Movable Pavilion

Jianshi Wu and Yitan Sun

Architecture, Building and Structure Design Cedar Hill Loop Movable Pavilion by Jianshi Wu and Yitan Sun The objective is to create a multi-usage pavilion in Central Park, New York that can host a broad range of daytime and nocturnal activities. The Cedar Hill Loop is an underground circular pavilion that follows the existing terrain of the 30-feet tall Cedar Hill (an east-facing slope of mideast Central Park), which is able to elevate and rotate itself to create unique space conditions that are suitable for a wide variety of activities in different scales. Designed to be used openly and unexpectedly, it encourages the terrain to play a more significant role in the forming of space.
